Detours & Delays

General Information

Occasionally, detours or delays on a route or even the whole system may happen as a result of heavy traffic or weather conditions. In the event a bus on its route cannot use a street on which it normally operates, Maritime Metro will detour around the area. Detours may be caused by street repairs, accidents and weather conditions. When such conditions exist in your area, it is suggested that you contact the transit office for information on route detours.

When a delay or detour is expected to be of any great length, the transit system makes every effort to ensure that the public is informed. Temporary "MMT" bus stop signs will als be placed on detour routes at safe, accessible locations for passengers to use during the detour. Passengers should treat these temporary stops as regular bus stops for the duration of the detour.

When it is not possible to post temporary signs along the detour route, buses will stop at any “safe” corner to board and discharge riders until the detour is over. You should always hail a bus that you want to board especially when you are waiting at an unmarked bus stop on a detoured route.
