Pharmacy Crime Prevention Task Force |
In September of 2005 a partnership between the Manitowoc County Pharmacies, the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department, and the Manitowoc Police Department was formed. This partnership became known as the Manitowoc County Pharmacy Crime Prevention Task Force. The goal of the Pharmacy Task Force is to provide a forum through which pharmacies can work together to prevent crimes involving prescription drugs. This type of crime has been on the rise as more and more people are becoming addicted to prescription drugs. The group meets three times per year.

Pharmacy Collection Day - November 3, 2006 |
The Pharmacy Crime Prevention Task Force partnered with Manitowoc County to put together this event. The goal was to collect outdated, unwanted, and unusable drugs from the public. The reason for the collection was to keep the drugs from entering our environment and to keep the drugs out of the hands of the increasing number of people who are using them for recreational purposes. The event was a great success. Items from 110 households were brought to the collection site. The controlled substances came from 26 different categories including 4,475 pills and 16 bottles of liquid. More Pharmacy Collections Days will be forthcoming. |
