In September of 2005 a partnership between the Manitowoc County Pharmacies, the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department, and the Manitowoc Police Department was formed. This partnership became known as the Manitowoc County Pharmacy Crime Prevention Task Force.

In 1980 the City of Manitowoc formed a committee to assist the Manitowoc Police Department in the fight against crime. This committee that began with 14 members was responsible for the start of what became known as the Manitowoc Crime Prevention Program.

The purpose of the current 23 member committee is to work with the community in the field of crime prevention, assist all law enforcement agencies in the accomplishment of their duties and cooperate with all community organizations in crime prevention efforts.

Since 1980, thirteen programs have been established to assist with the crime prevention efforts.

Text Box: Neighborhood Watch is a crime prevention program that enlists the active participation of citizens in cooperation with law enforcement to reduce crime in their communities.

The Manitowoc County Crime Stoppers Program is a citizen/police cooperative program designed in the fight against crime. Callers with information that leads to an arrest of an individual may become eligible to receive a cash reward.

A McGruff House is a temporary haven for children who find themselves in frightening or dangerous situations.

Text Box: The D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Program familiarizes young people with the hazards of drug abuse and violence and teaches them practical ways of resisting pressures to become involved with drugs and violence.
