  1. The Best Gift Ever!

    December 11, 2017, 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM @ Manitowoc Public Library

Sometimes the smallest goodwill gesture can easily become the “Best Gift Ever!” The gift of reading is one such gift! Please join the Manitowoc Public Library and the Steven Strassburg Agency, Inc.—an American Family Insurance agency—to help us build a lifetime of reading enjoyment for children whose families might not be able to budget the purchase of a new book this holiday season. Between November 13th and December 11th, donations of new, unwrapped books may be dropped off at the Manitowoc Public Library (700 Quay Street) or the Strassburg Agency (3315 Calumet Avenue, Suite D). These books in turn will be distributed to children in need via the Salvation Army and other area shelters. The “Best Gift Ever!” is truly the gift that keeps on giving! From all concerned parties, we thank you in advance for your support and wish you the happiest of holidays!

  2. Book and a Movie/“A Christmas Story”

    December 11, 2017, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM @ Lakeshore Cinema

Pretty much everyone knows that if you get a Red Ryder Carbine Action 200-shot Range Model air rifle for Christmas that you’ll shoot your eye out. However, one huge question remains—which version of “A Christmas Story” does a better job of stringing all of the hilarious details of tale together: the book or the movie? Unless you’re especially “fra-gee-lay,” you’ll have the opportunity to discuss this oft-debated point if you attend Manitowoc Public Library’s “Book and a Movie” at Lakeshore Cinema on Monday, December 11th, at 7 PM. Watch the movie and then participate in the discussion of the book versus the movie that follows. Books can be checked out prior to the screening at Manitowoc Public Library. Admission is FREE!!!
