Mental Health and Well-Being
Manitowoc County has many counseling options available to both the private and public sector. The school systems all have staff who are counselors. Some have a social worker. Each of the hospitals has a social worker. Holy Family Memorial Medical Center also has a pastoral care department. Several United Way agencies provide counseling. Most of the public sector agencies have MSW (Masters Social Work) therapists and master's degree counselors, psychiatrists, several clinical psychologists, MSW counselors, a gerontologist and a child specialist.
The private sector provides a neuropsychiatrist, psychiatrists with varying fields of expertise, a clinical psychologist and a private counseling firm. Also available for counseling are the religious leaders of over 60 churches (one synagogue) in Manitowoc County.
