Passenger Facilities

Experienced transit riders make a point of getting to their bus stops before the bus's scheduled arrival time. While this means you will have a short wait at the bus stop, it also ensures that you won't miss your bus. Of necessity, the schedules have some built-in flexibility to allow for conditions beyond the transit system's control, such as heavy traffic, bad weather, trains, etc.

To make your wait as comfortable as possible, passenger shelters are provided where appropriate. Approximately 10 light shelters, which provide some seating and protection from the weather, are located at certain heavily used bus stops along the routes. For the most part, these shelters have been placed at stops serving public buildings, such as educational and medical facilities, shopping areas, and apartment complexes for senior citizens. The shelters generally are the property of Maritime Metro Transit. Few shelters have been purchased and are maintained by the organization whose property the shelter is located on.

At the major transfer point, Maritime Metro provides an Intermodal Transfer Center (915 South 11th Street, Manitowoc). This center features indoor and outdoor seating, a drinking fountain, and a bathroom, as well as a location to purchase Metro Money Cards and tickets and obtain information about the bus service.
