POETRY IN COLOR:
The works of Bert Zylstra

January 15th to February 12th
Zylstra (b. 1940-d.2000) was born in Rotterdam, Holland and studied
at the Art Student's League in New York after emigrating tot he United States. Featured art includes work completed while he lived in the Manitowoc area, as well as early work that proceeded his time in Wisconsin and later work accomplished after Zylstra's return to Holland in 3989. His painting - watercolors, oil on canvas and board, and pastels - are complimented by the poetry of Kathryn Gahl.

The Rahr-West is pleased to present this extremely rare and internationally coveted series of 38 Le Cirque lithographs. The Museum was originally gifted 30 pieces from this series by Milton Katz in 1983. In 2016 the Rahr purchased the remaining 8 pieces to complete the series.

SPUTNIKFEST
Aliens in the Alley - September 8th
Sputnikfest - September 9th 
This event celebrates the landing of a piece of Sputnik IV in front of the Vilas-Rahr mansion. Friday night's Aliens in the Alley features a Trivia Contest and Ms Space Debris Pageant. Then on Saturday, join us for some family friendly fun. Dress your pet up and win a prize in the Alien Pet Contest, or dress up yourself and win a cash prize in our costume contest. $1000 Alien Drop Raffle Tickets are also available for purchase.

 THE ART OF PRESERVATION
October 1st  to October 29th 
The Water's Edge Artists will once again be presenting a plein air artists exhibition, The Art of Preservation, at the Rahr-West Art Museum. These beautiful paintings are for sale, with proceeds benefiting the Rahr-West Art Museum and local environmental and historic preservation stewardship organizations.

Water’s Edge Artists – Painters for Preservation – is an alliance of plein air artists dedicated to artistically recording historic, endangered or threatened places.
