Among many of MTA's great cultural excursions is a river tour of the Lower Danube with the Curator of Musical Instruments at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, following in the footsteps of Europe's great composers
Members of the Rahr-West Art Museum now have a new benefit: EXCLUSIVE TRAVEL OPPORTUNITIES through the Museum Travel Alliance (MTA), a consortium of museums with a shared interest in cultural tourism.
By joining MTA, we have access to unique travel programs as a benefit to members. Trips are focused primarily on art, architecture, and gardens, and all are led by curators or professors whose expertise relates to the destinations visited.
The 2016 roster of 15 trips includes: a river cruise along the Lower Danube, taking in Vienna’s art and architectural treasures and medieval Balkan churches; sailing the Baltic’s Amber Coast from St. Petersburg to Copenhagen during the “white nights” of midsummer; and a New Year’s excursion to Egypt and Jordan by private plane.
All Museum Travel Alliance trips have the intimate air of small-group travel with like-minded art enthusiasts from other museums. Sea and river voyages use smaller vessels that carry a maximum of 85 passengers, while land and rail programs are capped at 25 participants.
