The Department of Public Infrastructure plans, administers, directs and budgets Public Infrastructure activities for the City of Manitowoc. This includes all phases of municipal engineering, public construction projects, and the operation and maintenance of infrastructure within the public right-of-way.

It is a multi-faceted department with a 2009 budget of approximately 19 million dollars and 15 million dollars in revenue. The net expense of 4 million dollars funds 4 divisions.

The four divisions that comprise the Department of Public Infrastructure are:

  1. Engineering Division 
  2. Operations Division (Cemetery/Lift Bridges/Parks/Streets & Sanitation) 
  3. Building and Grounds/Maritime Metro Transit Division
  4. Recreation/Senior Center Division
