City Plowing Policy
Winter Snow and Ice Procedure
  • Salting Operations
Criteria: All salting route streets will be plowed during salting operations when snow accumulates to 1/2" or more.

Authority: During regular working hours, the Operations Manager and Assistant Operations Manager normally will be responsible for this operation and the decision to salt shall be approved by the Director of Public Works.

After Hours: Outside normal working hours, the person on duty will be responsible for this operation and determination of action. They shall brief the Director of Public Works the following day.
  • Plowing Operations
Criteria: Snow Depth is 2” to 3” and still snowing.

Authority: Under any circumstance, plowing will not commence until the Director of Public Works has authorized action. If the Director is not available, then the Deputy Director of Public Works shall determine the action. If Deputy Director is not available, then the On-Duty Supervisor and/or Operations Manager shall determine and continue to attempt to contact the Director or Designee.

After Hours: Call Procedure: On-Duty person calls the Director of Public Works. If the Director of Public Works not available, call the Deputy Director of Public Works.

Before calling, On-Duty person shall know accumulation and forecast and have recommendation of action prepared for approval.
