Jr. Lifeguard Training
October 1 - November 19, 2016
Lifeguard training is designed for youth 11-14 yrs (or have completed
5th grade) . It is designed to build a foundation of knowledge,
attitudes, and skills for future lifeguards. Participants are not
required to master or perfectly execute skills. They will learn
techniques and build stamina during this program. Participants will be
introduced to skills utilized in the Lifeguarding course, basic
responsibilities of a lifeguard, and communication and decision making
skills. Held at Wilson Jr. High School Pool.
Prerequisites: Front crawl 25 yards, with rotary breathing,
breaststroke 25 yards, tread water for one minute. Submerge and swim a
distance of 10 ft underwater, back float for 30 seconds, elementary
backstroke or back crawl for 25 yards.

Life Guard Training Currently not Available.
The lifeguard training course teaches skills needed to become a lifeguard including, first aid, CPR, and water rescues.
Course participants must have the ability to swim 300 yards nonstop and tread water. This class is an American Red Cross
certification course. Participants must be at least 15 years of age and pass a skills test given on the first day. Class size is limited so registration will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis.
