Good Public Relations
    • Participant problems
      • Discuss with supervisor
      • Document details
    • Do not:
      • Physically handle participants
      • Transport participants to or from activities
      • Make any commitments on behalf of the city or department

    • Be cordial and helpful
    • Make them feel important & confident in your abilities
    • Be respectful and accommodating without breaking department policies

Yourself
    • Watch your language!
    • Show self-control - Be patient!
    • Appearance – Dress appropriately at all times
    • Staff parking - when coming to Citizen Park for meetings, use the parking lot behind the building
    • No smoking - alcohol - drugs while working!  Will result in immediate dismissal!

Cooperation Matters
    • With supervisors
      • Discuss program in detail
      • Discuss policies in detail
      • Meet with supervisors
      • Get work schedule
      • Follow instructions of supervisor

      • Report problems to your supervisor

Care of Equipment/ Facilities
    • Schools - follow guidelines
      • Get to know maintenance staff at each facility and what they require
    • Department facilities
      • Treat them as they were your own
    • Keys
      • You are responsible for the keys issued to you and the facilities they open

Safety
    • Anticipate unsafe situations & eliminate risk factors
    • Immediately notify supervisor of problem areas
    • Walkmans are prohibited while working
    • Proper dress - shoes, pants, sun protection, t-shirt
    • Injuries and emergencies:  Call 911 (9-911 on most city and school phones)
    • Staff specific orientation meetings will expand

Work Hours and Pay
  • Schedule determined by your supervisor
  • Be on time and stay until end of scheduled time
  • Time Off
    • Approval by supervisor
    • Without pay
    • Be reasonable with requests
  • Time cards-to be submitted every two weeks (Fridays)

    • Be accurate -know what your are doing, DON’T GUESS; ASK!
    • Fill out completely
    • New employees must fill out extra paperwork.  Must be done before first day on the job.
