Cancellation HotPageThursday, May 8, 2008; 4:00 p.m.All programs are on as scheduled.See our policies on The Decision to Cancel and Winter Season Cancellations, below.
The Decision to CancelThe Manitowoc Parks & Recreation Department wants you to be safe and have quality facilities to use for your sport league, class or special event. Therefore, when determining whether to cancel an event due to weather conditions we ask ourselves the following questions: 1. Is it safe for our patrons and staff to travel to our facilities for our scheduled activities? 2. Is it safe for patrons to participate in our scheduled activity given the facility's current and anticipated condition? 3. Can the facility accommodate the scheduled activity without sustaining damage? If the answer to one or more of these questions is "No," then we will cancel the activity. If all can be answered with "Yes," our activity will remain on schedule.
Why 4:00 p.m.?This cancellation and information page and the cancellation & information hotline (683-4370) will not be updated before 4:00 p.m.. The reason for this policy is that we give the weather and our staff the benefit of the doubt that our facilities may be readied. The only exception to this policy is when we are using a school district facility and school is called off due to weather. In this case, our programs are automatically cancelled.
Winter Season CancellationsOur Department automatically cancels all activities that take place in Manitowoc Public School District buildings when they cancel school.
