Christmas in the Mansion

Christmas in the Mansion Update

Taking into consideration our community’s struggles to contain the spread of COVID-19 this fall, the museum is unable to commit to a safe opening date for public viewing.

“This is a decision we definitely don’t want to make,” said Museum Director Greg Vadney, “Christmas in the Mansion is an annual tradition and we wanted to exhaust all possibilities before making this unfortunate announcement.” As a replacement for the in-person events that surround the Holiday event, the museum’s historic Vilas-Rahr Mansion will be decorated in festive lights and trimmings during the season. “We understand that the community needs the Holiday spirit more this year than ever,” said Vadney, “…and we are going to make sure that anyone who passes the museum will know that despite being closed, we are committed to sharing a joyful experience this year.”

The Rahr-West Art Museum remains closed to the public due to “Critically High” community spread of COVID-19.

Canceled for the 2020 Holiday Season

Christmas in the Mansion highlights the unique architectural style of the Victorian era. The historic Vilas-Rahr mansion is beautifully decorated for the holidays by a fantastic group of volunteers, each choosing their own theme.

Christmas is a season of song that wraps itself about you like a shawl, but it warms more than your body, it warms your heart and fills it too.

*The Vilas-Rahr Mansion will be closed November 10-November 25, 2020 for decorating. We apologize for any inconvenience.
