Glass is a 4,000 year old material swathed in mystery and intrigue. It is a material that has created captivating objects, provided translucent light, transmitted information and has been blasted int space, giving insight to another dimension. Join us as we explore its origin, artist dimension, and touch upon its functional history as a magically transitional material.

Presenter Jan Smith has been the Executive Director of the Bergstrom-Mahler Museum of Glass since 2006, after 7.5 years as Director of the Rahr-West Art Museum.
Smith has worked in the arts for more than 30 ears. She has taught art history, and painting and drawing and enjoys painting in watercolor and pastel.
