Group Tours & Field Trips
The Rahr-West Art Museum offers free tours to school groups. Field trips can be customized to make connections between our collection and school curriculum, offering an experience both rich in history and the visual arts. Docents are available for tours of the Rahr Mansion. Activities* may also be incorporated into field trips.
School tours of the galleries and mansion usually last about one and a half hours. Addition of an activity may increase that time. Groups larger than 20 will be divided.
Each March, all second graders within the Manitowoc Public School District tour the museum and mansion for our annual Youth Art Series. Tours must be booked at least two weeks in advance.
The Rahr-West Art Museum's tours provide an experience rich in history and the visual arts. Both docent led and self-guided tours are available. Mansion tours led by our well trained volunteer docents engage and delight patrons with the history of the Victorian mansion and those who once lived in the house. Self-guided tours of our galleries allow group members the opportunity to explore the arts. With exhibits within our three galleries rotating throughout the year, there is sure to be something to charm the sights of everyone.
Group tours of the galleries and mansion last between one to one and a half hours. Groups larger than 20 will be divided. Tour fee is five dollars per person, plus ten dollars if a docent is requested. Tours must be booked at least two weeks in advance.
