Teen Art Classes

At the Rahr-West Art Museum, we have a passion for the important role visual arts plays in education. We offer weekly classes for teens, ages 13-17. Our knowledgeable instructors provide students with inspiration and tools to make the process of creating art fun and educational.

Classes will take place on Thursdays, 4:00-5:00pm.

September Teen Classes 
Mixed Media Self Portraits
September 7, 14, 21, 28  4:00-5:00PM
Students will use mixed media to create self portraits inspired by the theme of our new juried show, Being:  A Recognition of Self and Other.

October Teen Classes
Paper Mache Sugar Skulls
October 5, 12 & 26 4:00-5:00PM
Students will make paper mache skulls and paint them inspired by Mexican sugar skulls.

Special Teen/Adult Class  (Corn Husk Flowers and Dolls)
October 19, 2023  6:00-8:00PM
Let by Coria Graphic Arts, students will learn how to make the traditional Mexican craft of flowers and dolls from corn husks.

November Teen Classes
Digital Comic
November 2, 9, 16, 30  4:00-5:00PM
Combining storytelling and art, students will create digital comics in Procreate on an iPad.  iPads will be provided.  Students are welcome to bring their own iPad with the Procreate app downloaded.

Watercolor & Ink

Inspired by Berel Lutsky Retrospective, students will use watercolor layered with pen to create dynamic paintings.
