The Department of Tourism is under the authority of the City’s Room Tax Commission and consists of three full-time positions; a Director, a Destination & Sales Marketing Manager, and a Media & Special Events Coordinator. This is a newly formed department of the City of Manitowoc and serves as the Destination Marketing Organization for Manitowoc. 100% of room taxes collected throughout the city will be utilized for promoting tourism through this department.
The Department of Tourism, branded as Visit Manitowoc, is responsible for facilitating an active relationship with hotels (and all overnight stays), restaurants, and tourist attractions in the City of Manitowoc to promote Manitowoc as a tourist destination at the state and national level.
