Manitowoc Patrol Division
Manitowoc police officers work together in an effort to assist the public in a variety of ways. The public calls upon our officers to respond to an astounding range of problems and to perform many diverse tasks. The department is fortunate to have many creative, energetic, and devoted employees. Our most valuable assets are the men and women, both sworn and civilian, who help us combat crime and solve community problems. Despite the many challenges at the national, state and local level, our officers continue to work hard to improve the quality of life for Manitowoc residents.
Patrol personnel are encouraged to take a tough stance on crime with a renewed commitment to strategies that help prevent crime, reduce the fear of crime, and improve the quality of life in Manitowoc. We work hard to address the conditions that underline crime and disorder problems, rather then merely to arrest offenders. Manitowoc police officers work with the community to solve ongoing problems. This requires an intimate knowledge of the community and its resources. This efficient and effective use of the talents and resources available in Manitowoc helps us to engage what is needed for problem solving in the community.
The Manitowoc patrol division is authorized to employ forty-six law enforcement professionals to provide services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The patrol division is divided among 3 shifts that utilize staggered starting times to ensure a smooth transition between each shift. When fully staffed, each shift consists of one Captain, two Lieutenants, and twelve or thirteen patrol personnel.

Ride-Along With a Police Officer
The Manitowoc Police Department honors Ride-a-Long requests from individuals having a legitimate interest in observing police patrol operations. We limit Ride-Alongs to once per year and the individual must pass a background check.
