Mission Statement

Purpose

It is the purpose of the Wastewater Treatment Facility to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public, to prevent misuse, abuse, or breakdown of the Wastewater Facilities, to operate the facility to maximize removal efficiencies protecting receiving waters from pollution, and to regulate the construction and use of all sewers and drains connected to the City of Manitowoc sewer system.

Sanitary Sewage Discharge

All sanitary sewage from residences, commercial establishments and industrial discharge are treated at the plant located at 1015 South Lakeview Drive. The treatment plant processes an average of 9.0 million gallons per day (MGD) and has a rated capacity to treat up to 15.5 million gallons per day. Manitowoc's industrial base discharges about 40% of the plants daily flow. Manitowoc has a separated sewerage system meaning that storm water is not combined with sanitary sewage. The storm water has its own conveyance system to remove the water to various discharge points around the city.
