Giving Tuesday/Friends of Manitowoc Public Library Fundraiser
Tuesday, December 1, 2020
As a result of the pandemic, the Friends of Manitowoc Public Library were forced to cancel their popular Used Book Sales. The primary purpose of these sales was to generate funds to financially support MPL’s Summer Reading Program, one of the Library’s cornerstone activities that celebrates literacy and helps to prevent the Summer Slide (the phenomenon that occurs when an absence of reading materials makes it more difficult for kids to get into the flow of learning once school starts up again). To help alleviate this shortfall this year, the Friends are participating in Giving Tuesday on December 1, turning to the community’s generosity and support during this tumultuous time. The SRP makes a big impact, not just in the immediate future, but for years to come in the lives of children—especially those whose families have limited means. The gift of literacy is the greatest gift! For further details and to make a donation, please go to www.manitowoclibrary.org/givingtuesday. Thank you!
