The Manitowoc County Health Department this week vaccinated its 500th healthcare worker included in the phase 1a eligibility. All of the doses allocated to Manitowoc County by the State have been administered. The County had requested another 400 doses of vaccine for the week of January 18th and was notified on Friday that it would only be receiving an additional 200 doses. Those doses will be promptly administered to eligible individuals once they are received next week.

Currently, only patient-facing healthcare workers, persons working directly with infectious materials containing the SARS-COV-2 virus, public facing firefighters, and public facing law enforcement officers are eligible to receive the vaccine. Firefighters and law enforcement officers are being added for the first time next week.

The decision on when individuals in certain age groups, with certain health conditions, or other occupations can receive the vaccine next have not yet been made the State. Manitowoc County cannot begin vaccinating these individuals until given permission by the State to move into these next groups of individuals.

Individuals who wish to be notified of when they may be eligible to receive the vaccine in the future can sign up to receive notices on the County website at:

https://www.co.manitowoc.wi.us/departments/health-department/covid-19-information/vaccine-info/

Signing up does not schedule an appointment or guarantee a vaccine as supply of vaccine will be limited, but will allow the Health Department to notify individuals as they become eligible.
