Friends of Red Arrow Park Logo

Friends of Red Arrow Park and the City of Manitowoc are honored to be host to this 9/11 Memorial Event that will also include several other elements of dedication, respect, and tribute.  This event is scheduled for Saturday, September 11th, 2021, from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. at Red Arrow Park in Manitowoc.

Pastor Matt Sauer will be providing the opening prayer for this event.  Christine Snyder, who was killed on flight 93, will be remembered; a dedication of the Flowering Pear Tree that has been planted at Red Arrow Park as a seedling from the only surviving tree at Ground Zero.  Christine Snyder was in New York at an Arborist Conference, and stayed a few extra days to visit family before boarding flight 93.  It is this connection that provided Manitowoc with the opportunity to have this tree.

Part of this event will also focus on the effect that 9/11 has had on the Wisconsin National Guard deployments.  The deployment mural will be dedicated to Captain Karin Deimer, who passed shortly after returning from a tour in 2010.

The lives of six Wisconsin National Guard soldiers whose lives were lost during the Iraq War will also be memorialized, and their families have all been invited to the event.

Dedication will take place of a new art piece added to the Mourning Sun memorial, which is dedicated to the Wisconsin National Guard.

Free t-shirts, coffee mugs, and books of the deployment will be available, and donations will be accepted.
