Plein Air Paint Out

Saturday, July 22, 2023, 11:00 am—4:00 pm 

Join us for another year of Paint Out, our free plein air painting event! This year, Paint Out will take place along the lakeshore at Lighthouse Park to take advantage of its supreme views of the Manitowoc Lighthouse and the lakeshore. 

Plein air painting (from the French en plein air, or in open air) is the act of painting outdoors, utilizing the landscape as a direct reference.

Artist Demonstrators

We are thrilled to have two renowned plein air painters for demonstrations. Nita Moore will demonstrate from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and Hector Acuna will demonstrate between 2:00 to 4:00 pm.

Check in with us at the Lighthouse Pavilion where we will have live music at 1:00pm. The public is invited to bring art supplies, set up, paint along, and enjoy the demonstrations and live music. 

Plein Air Workshops

Are you interested in gaining plein air painting experience before the event? We are offering youth, teen, and adult plein air painting classes leading up the event: 

Adults: Thurs., July 13, 2:00-4:00 pm, $25 RWAM Members/$35 Nonmembers

Teens: Tues., July 11, 2:00-4:00 pm, $12.50 member/$25 non member 

Youth: Wed., July 5, 10:30 am - 12:00 pm, $9.25 member/$18.50 non member
