On Tuesday, May 21st, the Northeastern Wisconsin Great Lakes Sport Fisherman (NEWGLSF) and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) are planning to collect approximately 11,500 Coho salmon that are being raised in the rearing pond at the Lincoln Park Zoo, 1215 North 8th Street, and release them into the river at Manitou Park, 2901 Michigan Avenue. Everyone is welcome to come and watch the process. Tanker trucks are expected to arrive at Lincoln Park at 10 a.m. Once the fish are netted, counted, and loaded into tankers, the group will head to Manitou Park to watch the DNR release them into the Manitowoc River at approximately noon. Since 1985, over six million trout and salmon have been reared at the pond and released.
