The City of Manitowoc Parks Division has begun the process of winterizing drinking fountains for the season and will begin closing and winterizing park restrooms the week of October 28th. Due to recreational activities in the parks, six public restroom areas will remain open all winter:
- Halvorsen Park;
- Lighthouse Park;
- Lincoln Park Cabin #1 public restrooms;
- Lincoln Park Zoo;
- Manitou Park; and
- Silver Creek Fieldhouse public restrooms.
In addition, the Parks Division would like to keep the following restrooms open as long as weather permits:
- Lincoln Park Concession Stand; and
- Rheaume Park.
Conditions such as accumulating snow and/or ice will cause the restrooms to be closed for the season.
The Parks Division expects the remainder of all restrooms to be closed on or before the end of the day on Friday, November 1st.
Until the water is turned back on in spring, a portable toilet will be available for use at upper Henry Schuette Park, as there is no furnace in the restroom building.
