[ARCHIVED] National Weather Service BEACH HAZARDS WARNING!

The National Weather Service has issued beach hazard warning for the the Lake Michigan Shoreline. The warning in in effect from 10 AM until this evening. This warning includes beaches at Red Arrow Park, Neshotah Beach and Point Beach. The warning is for high wave action, structural currents, longshore currents, and rip currents. Structural currents form along piers and can sweep you into deeper water. A longshore current is a current that moves parallel to shore and may be strong enough to prevent swimmers from being able to keep their feet on the bottom. Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away from shore and can sweep you into deeper water.
