Manitowoc is joining thousands of communities nationwide for the 27th Annual National Night Out Against Crime. The Manitowoc Crime Prevention Committee and TRIAD Committee sponsor the National Night Out. The event will take place from 6 to 9 pm.
National Night Out is designed to: (1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts; (3) strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and (4) send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Manitowoc residents are also encouraged to come to Manitowoc’s Washington Park tonight from 6 pm to 9 pm to celebrate this important crime prevention event. Police Department vehicles will be on display, while Manitowoc Police Officers will be handing out information about “National Night Out” and many other crime prevention programs. There will be musical entertainment from the Clipper City Chordsmen and a demonstration from Lakeshore Tae Kwon Do. McGruff “The Crime Dog” will also be making an appearance.
The Manitowoc Police Department encourages all residents to turn their exterior house lights on from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. to signify their support for National Night Out Against Crime.
