Spring clean up starts approximately the first full week in April, weather permitting.
The first two weeks of spring cleanup will be for BRUSH ONLY. We pick up one week on the south side working from east to west and one week on the north side working from east to west.
The second two weeks of spring cleanup will be for YARD WASTE. We pick up one week on the south side working from east to west and one week on the north side working from east to west.
Debris can be put out on the terrace (between the sidewalk and curb) only two weeks prior to the scheduled start date of the brush or yard waste pick up week (south or north).
Spring cleanup consists of a brush pickup (first two weeks in April, weather permitting) and a yard waste pickup (second two weeks in April, weather permitting).
Brush: consists of clean woody vegetative material.
Yard Waste: consists of leaves, thatch, yard and garden waste
Pickup is limited to one (1) truckload per property.
There is a Spring Cleanup parking ban ordinance in place.
No parking will be allowed near garden waste, brush, and/or leaf and raking poles on City street during the scheduled week of pickup from 7 am - 3 pm.
Vehicles parked near any debris piles will be ticketed.
To insure pickup, all material must be placed on the terrace (between the sidewalk and curb) by 7 am on the specified Monday of your scheduled week.
Brush must be less than five (5) feet in length and six (6) inches in diameter and bushes/shrubs without root bulbs.
The City will not pick up any of the following items: mixed materials (brush/yard waste), bagged materials, lumber, garbage, animal droppings, broken concrete, refuse, fill, demolition material, edgings, yard debris greater than six (6) inches or longer than five (5) feet in length, including stumps, roots, or shrubs with intact bulbs, or debris in bags, buckets or garbage cans.
If the pickup date was missed and/or debris was put out after City crews went through, the property owner would be responsible for removing the debris and disposing of it themselves. If debris is not removed, there will be a minimum $100 charge for material picked up after the initial pickup on your street.
City residents that choose not to utilize the City pickup or wish to have additional pickups may contact a private hauler or take brush/yard debris to the county compost sites. For more information about the compost sites, call 920-683-4333.
City crews will pick up on each street one time only for brush and one time only for yard waste.
Debris is never picked up from vacant or uninhabited lots.
In a snowfall less than three inches, Priority 2 and 3 roads will not be plowed but will have salt applied at intersections, hills, and curves
Each plow vehicle has their designated route throughout the city. We do not plow to and from routes.
The plow could be traveling back to the shop for repairs.
The plow could be traveling to get a refill of salt or sand.
The plow is traveling back to its route after a refill or repair.
When a snowfall of greater than three inches has accumulated the Director of Public Infrastructure will authorize an action plan for general plowing (plowing all streets in the City).
When snowfall of less than three inches has accumulated, salt and/or plowing may be utilized. Primary roads may be completely cleared of snow and salt applied. Secondary roads will not be plowed but will have salt applied at intersections, hills and curves.
When pavement temperatures are five (5) degrees or below salt is ineffective. Under these circumstances sand is put on the road for traction.
Intensity, duration and timing of the snow event present unique challenges and may result in longer times than anticipated before we are able to remove the snow from every street. As main streets are cleared, we will proceed to the secondary streets and to low volume residential through streets, dead ends and cul-de-sacs, and alleys. Continued snowfall may require that we return to the main streets or dedicate equipment such that we may experience significant delay in getting to Priority 2 and 3 streets. Crews have 16 plow routes which can be seen on the Snow/Salt Maps page. If a snow plow operator finishes their route, they will assist on other routes in order to complete all routes as quickly as conditions allow.
Our goal is to clear the roadway for safe travel. Unfortunately, snow deposited in your driveway and in front of your mailbox is an inconvenient result of plowing. There is no other way to accomplish snow plowing operations on City streets. The greater the snowfall, the greater the amount of snow plowed into your driveway and in front of your mailbox. City crews will not remove snow from the end of private driveways or from in front of mailboxes. Adjacent property owners are responsible for clearing the snow to gain access to the roadway and mailbox. While some property owners may think the snow from the entire width of the street has been deposited at the end of their driveway, please be assured that snow plow operators do their best to make sure everyone receives the same amount of snow. We regret the inconvenience.
Every effort is made to minimize snow deposited on sidewalks. Unfortunately, the City does not have the available resources to clear sidewalks. And, as outlined in Manitowoc Municipal Code 7.210, snow and ice removal from sidewalks is the responsibility of the adjacent property owner.
Property owners should fix the mailbox and then file a claim form for the damage either online or in person at the City Clerk’s Office (900 Quay Street). Remember to check your mailbox to make sure that it complies with Manitowoc Municipal Code 7.125, Location of Mailboxes.
Evergreen Cemetery spring clean up is from April 15th to May 15th. All winter items must be removed by April 15th. Items not picked up may be disposed of at the discretion of Evergreen Cemetery. Summer items may be added beginning on May 15th. Fall clean up is from October 1st to November 15. All summer items must be removed by October 1st. Items not picked up may be disposed of at the discretion of Evergreen Cemetery. Winter items may be added beginning on November 15th. We prefer to have people choose spaces in person so they can see what the area looks like around their spaces. Some people might prefer trees, being close to the road so they don’t have to walk far, being close to a waterline for watering flowers, etc. Although spaces can be sold on a walk-in basis, we prefer that people call ahead so as not to disturb funeral services. If coming to the cemetery is not possible, we will sell the space by e-mail, fax or phone.
Evergreen Cemetery has an online Burial Search program where the spaces are color-coded by their status, so you can see which spaces are sold, available, etc. The program can be found at www.manitowoc.org/evergreen. You can also print out a map or use GPS inside the cemetery to locate gravesites. Each green rectangle is an available space. To use the GPS feature you must be within five miles of the cemetery grounds. Use your smartphone or tablet, click on the link above, then tap the compass button. You may be asked to share your location information. If you answer yes, then you will see a timer spinner until your GPS location is found. A blue dot will appear on the map indicating your location. (Please note that if you are using a device that does not have GPS capabilities, the program will instead use Web GPS, which gets its location from your internet connection instead of GPS satellites.) Keep in mind that recent sales may not have been entered into the system yet.
Please contact our office at your earliest convenience to schedule a tentative burial date and time, so as to avoid scheduling conflicts with other burials. We require a minimum of one working day’s notice in order to have the grave prepared. If a space has not been purchased previously, then we will require the space to be chosen and paid for a minimum of one working day prior to the burial. We will also require the size of the cremation urn or vault, payment in full for the opening and closing of the grave at the time of burial, and a copy of a cremation or death certificate. If the death occurred in Wisconsin in the last 12 months, you may be able to have the funeral director fax us a copy of the completed Report for Final Disposition. Burials may occur between 7 A.M. and 4:30 P.M., Mondays through Saturdays; however additional fees apply for Saturday burials and for burials on any day of the week which occur at 2:00 p.m. or later.

Yes. Elderly and disabled passengers may ride for a reduced fare; however, an approved form of identification, such as a Medicare card or Maritime Metro Transit Reduced Fare Card will be required. Elderly and disabled passengers may get a Maritime Metro Reduced Fare Card at the Intermodal Transfer Center at 915 S 11th St. Monthly passes are also available and include unlimited rides for the calendar month. Yes. All Maritime Metro full-size buses are fully accessible including a powered ramp and securement areas for two mobility devices. The current mini-bus has a securement area for one mobility device. Passengers using a mobility device are welcome aboard Maritime Metro Transit.
Maritime Metro operates bus service from 5:00am to 8:00pm, Monday through Friday and 9:00am to 4:00pm on Saturdays. There is no service on Sundays or Holidays.

Reservations for facilities can be made online beginning at 7 AM up to 365 days prior at www.manitowoc.org. Click on “Departments,” “Parks & Forestry,” and then “Facility Reservations Online.” Click on “Click here to login…”. This will bring you to the login screen for the ActiveNet reservation system. Once you create an account, click on “Reservations” below the Manitowoc heading. You then have two options: “Facility Reservations” or “View Facilities.” If you would like to check the availability of the facility before making the reservation, choose “View Facilities.” Cabins and fieldhouses are rented from 9 AM to midnight. Other facilties, such as concession stands and open air shelters are rented from 9 AM to 11 PM.
Reservations can also be made up to one year in advance over the phone with a credit card by calling 920-686-3580 weekdays from 7 AM to 4 PM or in person at the Parks Office, 900 Quay St. You can pay by credit/debit card, cash or check at the Parks Office. Payment must be made in full (rental fee plus deposit) at the time of reservation. Partial payments are not accepted.

If your citation is with the Manitowoc Municipal Court, please call (920) 686-6920 to speak directly with the court clerk for the actual amount due. Once the fine(s) are paid in full, you will need paperwork from the court involved to take to your local Motor Vehicle Department to continue the process of reinstatements. If your fine(s) are through a different municipality and you are unsure of which one, please contact the Department of Motor Vehicle in Madison at (608) 266-2261 in order to obtain that information.

If you have your citation number, and it is after the initial court date, you may still pay your fine at the Manitowoc Police Department. The Manitowoc Police Department also currently accepts credit card payments for traffic and ordinance citations through Point & Pay. This service provides payment directly to Municipal Court and assesses you a fee for their service for using your personal credit card. The fee will be in addition to the amount owed for your citation.
Your payment will be applied to the citation upon receiving confirmation from Point & Pay that the transfer has been completed. This may take up to 72 hours for processing. If you have any questions, please contact the Manitowoc Police Department at (920) 686-6589.
