Adventure Pass destinations include: • Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center • Manitowoc County Historical Society’s Pinecrest Historical Village • Rahr-West Art Museum • Rogers Street Fishing Village • Wisconsin Maritime Museum Adventure Passes for these attractions are available at MPL’s Service Desk on a first come, first served basis on the first of every month when MPL opens for the day. Arrive early! Quantities are limited! For details, visit www.manitowoclibrary.org/adventurepass. Adventure Passes are available during all normal MPL operating hours.
All September long, when members of our community stop by MPL to sign-up for a new library card or renew an expired one, they’ll have the opportunity to spin the Prize Wheel at our First Floor Service Desk to win a fabulous prize. And here’s the best part—everyone’s a winner! Library Card Sign-Up Month is brought to you by the American Library Association and libraries nationwide. It’s a time when they all join together to remind parents, caregivers and students—pretty much everyone—that signing up for a library card is the first step towards academic achievement and lifelong learning.

Set near the end of WW II when home-front America suddenly came face-to-face with the enemy that had been killing their sons and loved ones on foreign soil for years, Margaret’s War explores the largely-ignored topic of America’s POW camps. It tells the story of a young woman’s broken heart, trampled soul, and fragile sanity as German POWs are unexpectedly brought to her small Midwest town to help with the crop harvest. Bill Stokes lives in Mazomanie, Wisconsin, retired after a 35-year career as a columnist/feature writer for the Chicago Tribune, the Wisconsin State Journal, the Milwaukee Journal and the Stevens Point Daily Journal. He has authored a half-dozen other books, some of them compilations of his popular columns and stories. He will be coming to MPL’s Balkansky Community Room at 6 PM on September 4 to talk about Margaret’s War. Admission is FREE!!!
